This Hidden Mexican Town’s Airport Soars By 105% Since 2021

In the first half of 2023, Manuel Crescencio Rejón International Airport in Mérida has experienced an impressive increase in arriving passengers, more than doubling the numbers of 2021. This growth has resulted in the airport attaining the status of Mexico’s eighth busiest aviation hub during the same period.

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), the airport experienced significant growth. For example, in the first half of 2021, it handled 431,934 passengers, a figure that increased to 888,189 in the corresponding months of 2023.
