The Wells and Beaches Directorate has been monitoring Cancun’s beaches since 6 a.m. this morning, as the sargassum season is imminent, according to Antonio Chambé, director of this organization.
“The brigades continue to work manually, and Zofemat has the mechanical sweeper to help us,” Chambé said.
He emphasized that the sargassum season has not yet reached the coasts of Cancun and explained that what has been seen in recent weeks is seagrass, which is also removed so that the beaches look clean of any organic matter.
