In Tuesday’s bronze-medal women’s rugby sevens match between the United States and Australia, the Americans were five points — and nearly the length of the field — away from a loss in the closing seconds.
That’s when Alex Sedrick took matters into her own hands.
Sedrick powered her way through, and then away from, the Australians to deliver a walk-off run that tied the match, and her subsequent conversion gave the United States the bronze medal.
