Major League Baseball’s postseason will get underway on Tuesday, October 1 with the start of the Wild Card Series. The field for the American League is set, but the National League will need one additional day to round things out with three teams vying for two remaining spots.
The New York Mets and Atlanta Braves split a doubleheader at Truist Park Monday, punching their tickets for the postseason. A two-run home run by Francisco Lindor in the ninth inning of Game 1 propelled the Mets to an 8-7 win. Atlanta secured a postseason spot by blanking New York 3-0 in Game 2.
