British Open 2024: DP World Tour pro withdraws after 84-yard tee shot at ‘The Postage Stamp’

Romain Langasque, competing in his fourth career Open Championship, has withdrawn due to a back injury.

After stepping up to the tee at the par-3 8th, the famous 123-yard hole known as ‘The Postage Stamp,’ Langasque hit an 84-yard-tee shot into thick fescue well short of the green. He slapped his second shot well over the putting surface and into more trouble. Then, Langasque decided that he had enough.

He turned around, signaled to his caddy, took off his hat, and shook the walking official’s hand, delivering the news that he needed to go home, per Christopher Powers of Golf Digest. He did the same to his playing competitors,
