This is NBA All-Star weekend. This year the league implemented a new format, with the All-Stars drafted into three teams of eight players. They will face off with the winner of Friday night’s Rising Stars Challenge in a small, single-elimination tournament on Sunday night.
The NHL is also trying something new, which kicked off this week.
Instead of an All-Star Game, the NHL and the NHLPA are holding the 4 Nations Face-Off, which runs from February 12 through February 20. This is a round-robin tournament featuring four national teams — Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States — with NHL players filling out the rosters.
