Why western Washington could see third-driest January in 80 years

It has been an unusually dry first month of the year so far.

SEATAC, Wash. — This month could end up being one of the driest Januarys in 80 years, according to the KING 5 Weather team.

So far in January 2025, just 1.04 inches of rain has fallen. Normally, nearly 4 inches have fallen by this point.

If no more rain falls this month, it will end up being the third-driest January in 80 years at the Sea-Tac station.
