Washington Red Cross volunteer preparing to help victims of Palisades fire

In addition to the Red Cross, 35 Washington firefighters and 10 fire engines left for Los Angeles Wednesday morning to assist with relief.

Along with firefighters from across Washington, Red Cross volunteers are on their way to California to help with the Palisades fire that has damaged thousands of acres and killed at least five people.

Andrew Watkins, a Red Cross responder, was at SEA Airport Thursday afternoon waiting to board his plane for Los Angeles. Watkins said he got a call Wednesday when he was needed to deploy to California. He’s the only Red Cross volunteer in Washington who will be in California, but he
