OLYMPIA, Wash. — With less than a month remaining in Washington’s legislative session, Governor Bob Ferguson announced he would not sign either the House or Senate versions of the state’s operating budget, citing concerns over excessive taxation and reliance on an untested wealth tax.
Both chambers recently passed their budget proposals, which include significant new revenue measures. However, Ferguson expressed doubts about the feasibility and legality of the proposed measures.
“The legal arguments for a wealth tax are untested,” Ferguson said
