Vandals cause large power outage on Washington coast

More than 2,000 customers were told to expect a “prolonged outage” in Grays Harbor County.

MOCLIPS, Wash. — More than 2,000 customers are in the dark on the Washington coast after vandals caused a power outage, according to Grays Harbor PUD.

Crews said they found vandals cutting down trees near the Moclips substation Tuesday night. They destroyed a transmission pole and power lines.

Customers in Moclips, Pacific Beach, Copalis Crossing, Seabrook, Taholah and along Ocean Beach Road are affected. Grays Harbor PUD expects a prolonged outage while crews make repairs.
