Unstable building in downtown Enumclaw set to be demolished on Wednesday

After hours of work, Puget Sound Fire said work will begin Tuesday to get ready for the Wednesday demolition.

ENUMCLAW, Wash. — A building that was leaning toward the sidewalk in downtown Enumclaw forced the city to close nearby streets Monday.

A city employee notified the Enumclaw Police Department around 1:30 p.m. of the unstable building near Railroad Street and Griffin Avenue.

The building, which was under construction, was failing and at risk of collapse, according to the Enumclaw Fire Department.

Police assessed damage to the building using a drone.

Officers closed all roads within 75 feet of the building
