‘Undue stress and devastation’ at Washington’s VA facilities due to federal firings

Former employees said delays at the VA will only get worse if Trump and Musk continue to cut the workforce.

SEATTLE — Former workers at Veterans Affairs facilities in Washington described their abrupt firings on a press call Tuesday and the fallout of widespread layoffs by President Donald Trump and DOGE head Elon Musk. 

The event was hosted by Sen. Patty Murray, who said care for veterans will become markedly worse if the job cuts continue. A leaked internal memo suggested the federal government intends to cut as many as 83,000 workers
