Two beloved Black-owned businesses in Central District to close down in January

One already has closed its doors, and another will be shutting down next week.

SEATTLE — One beloved Black-owned business in Seattle’s Central District closed its doors in early January, and another will shut down later this month.

Jackson’s Catfish Corner announced its plans to close on Jan. 4, after over three years in its South Jackson Street location. Terell Jackson was the owner and operator and modeled the restaurant after the one his grandparents started in 1985.

Woodrow and Rosemary Jackson opened Catfish Corner in the mid-80s at Martin Luther King Jr. Way and East Cherry Street, eventually selling the business in 2009.
