Trees collapse on cars, power outages reported as powerful winds hit western Washington

According to the National Weather Service, areas around western Washington could see wind gusts of up to 60 mph Monday night.

SEATTLE — There were reports of downed power lines, fallen trees and power outages across western Washington Monday night due to high winds.

Fire crews rescued three people after a tree fell on their car. According to the Seattle Fire Department, the tree fell on the car near Green Lake, on Aurora Avenue N, just before 6:30 p.m. Firefighters were able to cut the tree apart and safely extricate all three people in the car.

No injuries were reported.
