Transgender hate crime in Seattle sparks outrage, calls for justice

Police reports revealed the attackers used anti-transgender slurs, including calling the victim a “drag queen” and demanding they “take your makeup off.”

SEATTLE — A violent hate crime targeting a transgender individual in Seattle’s University District has left the community shaken and prompted renewed calls for action against anti-LGBTQ+ violence. 

Police said the attack occurred Thursday evening just after 6 p.m. along University Way Northeast, where four people assaulted the victim, leaving them with multiple injuries, including broken teeth.
