Three Washingtonians nominated for Oscars in this year’s ceremony

Singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile, Lily Gladstone and Julian Brave Noise Cat will be competing for an Oscar this year.

SEATTLE — Three people with ties to western Washington were among the people nominated in the 2024 Oscars on Tuesday morning.

Singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile received her first Oscar nomination for her “Never Too Late,” featured in Elton John: Never Too Late.

Carlile, a three-time Grammy Award winner known worldwide, will compete in the Oscars’ Original Song category, alongside Emilia Perez, The Six Triple Eight and Sing Sing. She grew up in Ravensdale, Washington.
