KING COUNTY, Wash. — At least six demonstrations drew crowds this weekend in the Seattle area, and all were prompted by what was considered a global “day of action” under an effort titled “Tesla Takedown.” Protestors joined others across the globe in speaking out against Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his role in the U.S. government.
The impacts of this backlash, however, can also be seen in Washington’s economy. In King County, Tesla registrations were down 33% in February, according to Department of Licensing data obtained by The Seattle Times.
