Tacoma to pay $14.9 million settlement after road-rage victim paralyzed in shooting

Barbour was paralyzed after being shot by a suspect that Tacoma police had contact with just a few days prior.

TACOMA, Wash. — The City of Tacoma will pay a restaurant owner nearly $15 million after he was paralyzed from the waist down in a road-rage shooting.

Jay Barbour, owner of Mediterranean Gyro Grill locations in Federal Way and Tacoma, called 911 and reported he “could not feel his legs” following a drive-by shooting on June 23, 2022, according to Tacoma police.
