Suspects cause major damage to Seattle BECU location in ATM robbery

The thieves were interrupted by law enforcement and fled the scene before they could take any cash.

SEATTLE — Suspects used stolen construction equipment to commit an ATM burglary in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood early Monday morning.

The incident took place at a BECU location at the corner of Stone Way and 44th Street. Seattle police officers were called to the scene at around 3 a.m. for a report of a break-in at the bank. 

When officers arrived, they saw three to four suspects using a forklift to break inside the building and rip an ATM away from the wall.
