Suspect in fatal stabbing of Metro bus driver to appear in court Monday

Richard Sitzlack was charged with second-degree murder with a deadly weapon and third-degree assault.

SEATTLE — The man accused of fatally stabbing a King County Metro bus driver in December is scheduled to appear in court Monday, Dec. 6.

Richard Sitzlack, 53, allegedly stabbed Shawn Yim, 59, during an altercation near the University of Washington on Dec. 18. Sitzlack was arrested a few days later

A King County judge found probably cause to charge Sitzlack with second-degree murder with a deadly weapon and third-degree assault.

Since the stabbing, the local transit union has called for additional protections for bus drivers.
