The Washington State Transportation Commission voted to approve toll increases on Tuesday for the state Route 520 bridge, state Route 99 tunnel and Tacoma Narrows Bridge.
Analysts noted that the increases were largely unpopular during public outreach, but ultimately were necessary given the revenue shortfalls.
“It was across the board basically that those who use the facilities more were less supportive of an increase,” said Aaron Halbert, a fiscal analyst for the commission.
