Local leaders in Seattle and across Washington struck hopeful tones Wednesday as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took their oaths of office to become the new president and vice president of the U.S.
Biden’s inauguration comes as the U.S. continues to grapple with the coronavirus pandemic, which is continuing to spread rapidly in Seattle and across Washington. It also comes weeks after supporters of now-former President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol after Trump made repeated claims, with no evidence, of widespread voter fraud in the presidential election.
