More bridge closures are on the way for Seattle drivers as the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has announced plans to rehabilitate the 97-year-old Montlake Bridge.
The agency would begin a two-phase project this summer to extend the bridge’s lifespan, resulting in a month-long closure and several weekend closures to vehicles, WSDOT said in a blog post Tuesday,
The agency plans to start Phase 1 of the project on Aug. 9 through Sept. 3, between the end of Seafair and the start of the busy Labor Day weekend. During that time, traffic will be rerouted to state Route 520 and Interstate 5.
