After five years, King County Metro said it will resume asking riders for proof of fare payment.
SEATTLE — Starting next week, King County Metro will resume fare enforcement on buses and streetcars.
In a release Monday, King County Metro said it will ask riders for proof of fare payment March 31. Officers will give riders a verbal reminder if they do not pay.
King County Metro said it will focus fare inspections on RapidRide routes, high-ridership bus routes and the Seattle Streetcar. One-third or more of riders are not paying a fare, according to King County Metro Safety Officer Rebecca Frankhauser.
