In 2021, even the rain is relentless. If it felt like shoes were soggier and backyards were muddier in January, that’s because they were, according to the National Weather Service.
Through 21 days of rain, readings at Sea-Tac International Airport showed 8.75 inches, the most for a month since January 2020, when the area had a whopping 9.23 inches. Last year’s total included a snowstorm in the middle of the month, however.
Before 1945, totals were taken from a station downtown; precipitation records for the old station reach back to 1894. If those readings are included,
