SEATTLE — The Seattle Police Department (SPD) welcomed its new chief on Thursday.
KING 5 spoke with Chief Shon Barnes about his new role joining a department struggling with understaffing and a slew of interdepartmental controversies.
Barnes, 50, began his career in 2000 as a patrol officer in Greensboro, North Carolina. He then served as deputy chief of police in Salisbury from 2017 to 2020.
