Seattle judge to decide future of refugee aid after Trump’s ‘refugee ban’

The plaintiffs argued Tuesday the funding cuts not only violate the judge’s orders but cause irreparable harm to aid groups and refugees themselves.

SEATTLE — Refugee resettlement organizations squared off against the federal government in court on Tuesday, with the Trump administration trying to stop and defund refugee assistance programs. 

Last Tuesday, a federal judge blocked the so-called “refugee ban.” However, 24 hours after that decision, the federal government terminated all contracts it had with refugee resettlement organizations. The plaintiffs argued Tuesday the funding cuts not only violate the judge’s orders but cause irreparable harm to aid groups and refugees themselves.
