Washington was granted its own preliminary injunction against the birthright citizenship order by a federal judge on Thursday.
SEATTLE — A federal judge granted a second preliminary injunction against President Donald Trump’s birthright citizenship order on Thursday morning in Seattle.
Trump issued the executive order on his first day in office. The order, titled “Protecting the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship,” would require that a newborn have one parent who is either a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident to be eligible for citizenship.
Washington is suing to stop the order from going into effect. The lawsuit asserts that the executive order
