Seattle food bank receives $3 million anonymous donation to help families with food insecurity

FamilyWorks, funded primarily by government support and the community, serves 5,000 families in Seattle every year.

SEATTLE — A longtime nonprofit focused on alleviating food insecurities and providing family programming for families in north Seattle was gifted $3 million by an anonymous donor. 

Marcia Wright-Soika, FamilyWorks executive director, said she burst into tears when she learned about the $3 million donation to the organization.

“It was hard to not just fully experience the emotions of that moment,” Wright-Soika said.

Wright-Soika said FamilyWorks, funded primarily by government support and the community, serves 5,000 families every year.
