SEATTLE — Nine months after Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell signed new legislation making it easier for the city to demolish vacant buildings, the fire department says it has yet to tear a structure down.
Despite that, Chief Harold Scoggins suggested the Vacant Building Monitoring Program, which was celebrated as a major win in the fight against vacant house fires, is still producing results.
