The city will pay nearly $1 million to settle a lawsuit where a police captain claimed he was demoted for raising concerns about discrimination and racism.
SEATTLE — A Seattle police captain settled for $950,000 with the city and former police Chief Adrian Diaz after alleging that Diaz retaliated against him for raising concerns about discrimination.
Eric Greening sued the city and Diaz in March 2024 after Greening claimed he was demoted from assistant chief to captain after reporting racism in the department.
The settlement was signed March 25.
