RENTON, Wash. — An animal sanctuary in Renton is dealing with a tragic event after an overnight fire left 11 bunnies dead.
The Sammamish Animal Sanctuary shared a post on its website Monday that a manager was at the property Sunday night doing a check on the animals. The post said the manager smelled smoke and found the “Bunny Barn” on fire.
The manager tried to save the barn and the bunnies until fire officials arrived, but the sanctuary said 11 bunnies were lost. The sanctuary says the fire was “deemed a freak electrical accident.”
