TACOMA, Wash. — A western Washington boat manufacturer is facing challenges and uncertainty as the Trump administration evaluates foreign assistance programs and priorities.
The federal government ordered Safe Boats International to pause work on some government contracts, including a contract focused on making boats for the Ukrainian Navy.
Richard Schwarz, the CEO of Safe Boats International, said 99% of their business is for government customers, ranging from law enforcement to the military to border patrol.
