Revamped First & Pike public space unveiled at popular intersection

The busy intersection had about 3.3 million people pass through the area last year, making it one of the most popular hubs in Seattle.

SEATTLE — Officials unveiled a reimagined First & Pike public space Thursday afternoon designed to be a pedestrian-only plaza at one of Seattle’s most iconic intersections. 

The Downtown Seattle Association (DSA)/Metropolitan Improvement District said the new First & Pike features new furniture and lighting, vibrant planters, daily programming. Nestled on Pike Street between First and Second avenues, the busy intersection had about 3.3 million people pass through the area last year, according to the DSA.
