Fears of a so-called “urban exodus” from major metropolitan tech hubs like Seattle and San Francisco might have been blown out of proportion at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A new report from employment website Indeed found that tech job postings in booming markets like Seattle remained steady during the pandemic, and even saw an increase in concentration despite the rise in remote work.
However, there’s a catch: overall job postings declined, showing the ripple effect more workers telecommuting had on other industries, especially food service and childcare.
