Despite the turbulent economic year brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the average wage in Washington grew by just over 10% in 2020 according to employment officials, representing the largest recorded year-over-year increase. But that doesn’t mean that every resident was making more money.
A new report from the state’s Employment Security Department (ESD) released last week found the average annual wage in the Evergreen State rose to $76,741 in 2020, with the average weekly wage increasing from $1,340 in 2019 to $1,475 in 2020.
The industries with the largest wage growth in the state included information, which saw wages rise by 16.9%, and retail trade, which experienced a 14.6%
