Parents and teachers share concerns over building issues at Birney Elementary School

The new Birney Elementary School was built in 2020, but one of the old buildings is still being use for classes. The building has had multiple infrastructure issues.

TACOMA, Wash. — Parents and teachers are calling on Tacoma Public Schools to make improvements to an elementary school campus in Tacoma’s South End.

Birney Elementary School got a new building built in 2020, and original plans for the campus included building the new school, demolishing the two old buildings, and creating sports fields and a playground in their place.
