Mountain pass travel could be ‘very difficult to impossible’ this weekend, NWS warns

There could be between six to 18 inches of snow accumulations in the Cascade mountains, with two feet possible on Mount Rainier.

SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. — Travel could be challenging this weekend, particularly over Stevens and Snoqualmie passes, as snow continues to fall over the Cascade mountains into this weekend. 

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory which remains in effect through 4 p.m. on Saturday. 

Stevens Pass (U.S. 2) is expected to see between 15 to 20 inches of snow accumulations between Friday and Saturday evening, creating “winter driving conditions.” Snoqualmie Pass could see between four to six inches
