Minority leader: Democrat proposals ‘tax the joy out of being a Washingtonian’

The proposals could impact the wealthy, businesses, sporting teams, hunters and mini-mart shoppers.

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Democrats who hold the majority, and therefore write budget proposals in Olympia, proposed a list of new taxes and fees to make up for a multi-billion-dollar deficit.

The proposals include new taxes on the state’s top 4,000 investment earners, and the largest banks and companies.

Republican Minority Leader Drew Stokesbary (R-Auburn) said he is troubled by those proposals. Additional taxes would impact everyone in the state, he said.
