Man arrested for ATM thefts also accused of stealing life-saving equipment from fire departments

Charges filed against Scott Rhodes include several counts of theft, burglary and malicious mischief. Separately, he’s charged with kidnapping, assault and rape.

TUKWILA, Wash. — The man accused of a string of ATM thefts across Seattle is also being accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of life-saving equipment from local fire departments.

The suspect, Scott Rhodes, was arrested last Thursday.

“It’s very disheartening for us, because when we use those tools it’s in a life and death matter,” said Pat Pawlak, the Division Police Chief of Puget Sound Fire.
