SQUAMISH, BC — A magnitude 4.8 earthquake shook near Squamish, British Columbia on Friday afternoon.
The earthquake was reported at 1:26 p.m. at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the U.S. Geological Society (USGS). It was originally reported as a magnitude 5.1 but was later downgraded.
The earthquake was recorded about 30 miles northwest of Vancouver, B.C.
People reported feeling it across the Vancouver, B.C. area and as far south as Arlington, Wash. Most people reported feeling weak to light shaking, according to USGS.
