Little Saigon businesses warn Trump’s tariff on Vietnam will increase prices, close stores

The Trump Administration announced one of the highest tariff rates will be imposed on Vietnam at 46%.

SEATTLE — Businesses in Seattle’s Little Saigon are anxiously awaiting a decision from President Donald Trump on a proposed tariff on Vietnamese imports, which they fear will force them to raise prices.

The 46% tariff is scheduled Wednesday to take effect.

“46% is too much for the Vietnamese people,” said Dong Nguyen, who owns Phở Số 1. “Things are already getting so expensive. Three years ago, just a bowl of soup — only like $8.75, but now it’s going up to $14.50.”
