Lawmakers envision future Portland public market to have same economic upsides as Seattle’s Pike Place

Organizers behind the market say they have about $3 million in public and private investment, but they’re asking the state of Oregon to pitch in $10 million more.

PORTLAND, Ore. — If everything goes as planned, downtown Portland could be home to a permanent public market by the end of the year. But that assumes all of the necessary funding — in the millions of dollars — falls into place.
