Kinkajou abandoned at Yakima rest stop gets a health checkup

The rainforest mammal underwent a wellness exam after being found at a rest stop on June 23.

TACOMA, Wash. — The kinkajou that was found abandoned at a rest stop on June 23 in Yakima got a comprehensive wellness exam at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. He is living at the zoo temporarily.

The head veterinarian of the zoo, Dr. Karen Wolf, says that the animal is in fair health. However, he is very thin and only weighs 2.5 pounds. The zoo staff is keeping him fed with a full and healthy diet.
