King County Metro to install new barriers on buses for driver safety after fatal stabbing

The new barriers are designed to be more secure and durable than the partitions installed during the pandemic.

KING COUNTY, Wash. — King County Metro is taking a step to improve the safety of its bus drivers by installing new protective barriers between drivers and passengers. 

The decision comes after growing concerns over driver assaults, including the killing of Metro driver Shawn Yim, who was fatally stabbed by a passenger in December.

The new barriers are designed to be more secure and durable than the partitions installed during the pandemic.
