Kangaroo eludes deputies in Pierce County before eventual capture

The kangaroo was located and eventually corraled in Parkland.

PARKLAND, Wash. — Pierce County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) deputies were led on a wild kangaroo chase Sunday morning in Parkland.

Deputies were called to a traffic hazard around 6:39 a.m. Sunday along with Washington State Patrol, where they encountered what was initially believed to be a wallaby.

PCSD says after “several attempts,” the animal was tackled by deputies. Body camera video shared by the department shows one of the attempts, where the animal can be seen hopping away from deputies after trying to corner it.
