SEATTLE — Friday nights are for celebrating. No more so than at the Wildrose, Seattle’s only lesbian bar, which is toasting 40 years of Friday nights on New Year’s Eve.
“We regularly have people who come in and celebrate their coming out,” said bartender Riely Durkee. “I was here on Wednesday, and somebody was on a road trip from Reno to come and check out the lesbian bars from San Francisco up to here. She was celebrating her coming out and had her best friend with her.”
Since 1984, the Wildrose has been a cornerstone for “beers and queers.”
