Humane Society pleads for adoptions amid record-breaking shelter influx

The agency took in more than 60 animals rescued from a home in Roy earlier this month.

TACOMA, Wash. — The Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County is again facing a crowding crisis after dozens of animals were seized this month from a home in Roy.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department suspects the dogs and cats were subject to animal cruelty and illegal breeding.

The humane society said this week, they were sheltering 264 dogs — the most they’ve cared for at one time in seven years.
