FREDERICKSON, Wash. — In several areas of western Washington, fireworks are allowed to be set off on New Year’s Eve.

In unincorporated Pierce County, fireworks are allowed to be set off from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. on New Year’s Eve. 

According to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, there were more than 200 fireworks related injuries in 2023 in Washington and 17 of those happened on New Year’s Eve. The group that saw the most injuries were 15 to 21-year-olds.
