Holiday mischief lands King County elf in custody

An “Elf on the Shelf” was briefly detained after a sheriff’s deputy caught the pint-size intruder trying to break into a family’s home.

SEATTLE — For the past few weeks, Leo Rodzinski-Jones has woken up to find his Elf on the Shelf in a new spot inside his family’s home. However, earlier this week, “Elfie” was nowhere to be found. 

“I was eating pancakes, then I heard the doorbell. I got it, and then I opened it and yelled ‘Mom!’ and ran away because I was kind of scared,” Leo said. The person at the door was King County Sheriff’s Deputy Omar Jackson. He was responding
